UNDER 18'S PREMIER DIVISION
Enderby 2000 started the season as they finished last term with a 4 -
2 win over Barwell Athletic with Liam Webster (2), Nathan Bedford and Stuart Boot
getting the goals. Westfield Wanderers start to the season saw a re-run of last
year's county cup final. Westfield dominated early on despite the rain making
the pitch difficult to play good controlled football. Gradually the players got
to grips with the conditions and started to play some neat football. Melton defended
well though and towards the end of the half started to exert some sustained pressure
on the home defence forcing Dec Boyle into action with a great save to his left.
Most of the play was taking place in the midfield area and most of Melton's few
chances were coming from Westfields impatience in not taking advantage of their
own opportunities. In the second half Westfield regained their composure from
the start and were on top from the kick off. Several good moves finally resulted
in the pressure getting to Melton's defence and a superb cross from Matt Shorrock
saw Azz Fenech take advantage of a scramble in the box to knock in the first.
Westfield's dominance continued and sustained pressure saw a superb shot from
Keil Kane hit the post and several good saves by Melton's keeper. The Melton defence
did their best to withstand the pressure but the second goal was only a matter
of time. The goal finally came from Tom Watson with a superb finish to another
great move by Westfield. After this the result was never in doubt although Melton
continued to be dangerous from set pieces on occasions and worked hard till the
end of the match to try and get something back. With both teams starting to tire
in the conditions Westfield comfortably held the advantage for the last 10 minutes
to see the game through to get off to a winning start. Beaumont Town Juniors

4 - 4 draw, Luke Day (2), Jake Leader and Christian Ludam getting the Beaumont

UNDER 17 PREMIER DIVISION In the premier league,
a fine attacking performance gave Oadby Owls 5 goals & a win but they could
never feel entirely safe against Quorn's strong front two. Quorn took the lead

David Fallows then gave Owls the lead following a corner in the 40th minute &
shortly after half-time Joe Henton grabbed his 2nd goal to increase Owls lead.
Quorn quickly replied with a superb chip from Henry Waller but 2 goals from Jamie
Robey put Owls 5-2 up. Quorn kept going to the end & scored 3 minutes from
