DIVISION TWO

Burbage Old Boys are early leaders on goal difference from Harborough Town.

Kegworth travelled to table topping Harborough Town and started the game well, after a long trip The Imps pushed forward from the start, but it wasn't until the midpoint of the first half that they managed to take the lead, John Bowles battling through the centre of the home defence before chipping the keeper from outside the penalty area. The good start for the visitors however soon turned sour, when Rhys Kearton saw red for his reaction to a bad foul from a home player. Town pushed forward and just before the break they found the equaliser to send the teams into half time all square. Town started the second half well, making the most of their numerical advantage, and forcing Kegworth into some desperate defending, which included a fine goal line clearance from Oscar Wall. Halfway through the half, Harborough took the lead. At this point many teams would have given up, but Kegworth are made of sterner stuff. Switching to a three man defence they threw everything at their hosts and with ten minutes to go they scored the goal that their efforts deserved, as Bowles fired in his second of the game.

With their tails up The Imps pushed forward looking for a winner, it was Harborough though that snatched the points after tired legs caused a defensive error that allowed The Town striker an easy finish. In time added on Kegworth even pushed goalkeeper Dan Owen forward for a late corner and Ryan Salmon brought a good save from the home keeper with the last kick of the game, but a fine game of football ended with Kegworth valiant losers.
